Cavin served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2005. He then spent 20 years as an investigator, including Special Investigations Unit (SIU) work with Arizona Investigative Services and other investigation firms. That career is the thread through everything he builds: evidence, verification, and a record that cannot be quietly changed.

He has been involved in crypto since the OpenCoin and NewCoin era of 2012, the company that became Ripple, building and contributing to open-source projects wherever he could. He previously served as President of Cavin Research Group, a research and development firm.

In February 2026 he founded Rip It Labs, which he calls the greatest project of his life. He created its products, including RILBOT, an AI agent marketplace where every run is signed and anchored on-chain; RIL Warden, a jail and flight recorder for AI agents; RILchain and RILoracle; VoteChain; ProofRail; CyberStrike; and the AEGIS and SHIELD defense tools. The company's products anchor their records on five public blockchains: XDC, Base, Hedera, the XRP Ledger and Stellar.
